Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University (PRSU) is a prominent institution of higher education situated in Raipur, the capital city of Chhattisgarh, India. Structure:

At Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur, astronomical studies are offered by the School of Studies in Physics and Astrophysics. The department provides a strong foundation in Astronomy and Astrophysics at both the master's and research levels.
At the master's level, students follow a comprehensive curriculum covering fundamental and advanced topics, from the Sun and stars to galaxies, active galactic nuclei (AGNs), and the cosmological evolution of the Universe. The program integrates laboratory exercises and research projects, offering hands-on training in observational astronomy. Students gain practical experience using 6-inch Newtonian, 8-inch and 14-inch Cassegrain telescopes equipped with essential back-end instruments.
At the research level, the department is actively engaged in frontline studies, including Chemically peculiar and variable stars, Core-collapse and thermonuclear supernovae, Compact objects and X-ray binary sources.
The department is actively associated with premier astronomical research institutions such as ARIES Nainital, IIA Bengaluru, and IUCAA Pune. Students frequently visit these institutes for collaborative research and skill enhancement and to gain exposure to advanced observational facilities.
