exomoons
Search for exomoons in the radio wavelength
Abstract
The search for magnetic fields from exoplanetary systems is a subject that has caught the attention of the community for almost two decades. Only with the advancements in observational facilities during the past two decades, these detections have become possible. Along with Dr. Apurva Oza, Dr. Mayank Narang, Prof. Manoj Puravankara and Dr. Kaustubh Hakim, the collaboration is searching for an electron cyclotron maser instability (ECMI) emission from exoplanetary systems, essentially a Jupiter-Io-like decametric (DAM) radio emission from star-planet and planet-moon interactions. Within the collaboration, our unsuccessful attempts at detecting radio emission from exoplanet-exomoon interactions with uGMRT have set unprecedented upper limits on the exoplanet magnetic field strength with some of the deepest radio images of the field [ Pub-01,Pub-02]. The collaboration is further investigating instrumental facilities that can access even lower frequencies to detect weaker magnetic fields.
